The LURIC study enrolled 3316 individuals referred for coronary angiography at a cardiology centre in south-west Germany between 1997 and 2000; angiographically confirmed CAD was present in 79% and type 2 diabetes in 32%. Blood sampling yielded biomarkers of inflammation, coagulation, and lipid metabolism alongside leukocyte DNA and stored aliquots for future analyses. The cohort was established as a resource for functional genomics, pharmacogenomics, and long-term cardiovascular prognosis research.
