LDL triglycerides (LDL-TG) were assessed as markers of altered LDL metabolism in 739 patients with angiographic CAD and 570 matched controls in the LURIC study. LDL-TG were more strongly associated with CAD (OR 1.30; p < 0.001) than LDL cholesterol (OR 1.10; p = 0.047) and correlated positively with CRP, IL-6, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1. These results suggest LDL-TG may better reflect the atherogenic potential of LDL than LDL cholesterol.
