The rs2259816 polymorphism in the HNF1A gene was examined for its association with circulating C-reactive protein levels and coronary artery disease risk in the LURIC cohort. Each A-allele was associated with an approximately 15% reduction in CRP concentration, whereas no statistically significant association with coronary artery disease was observed. These findings suggest that HNF1A influences CRP production without a detectable direct effect on coronary artery disease susceptibility.
