Soluble ST2 (sST2) plasma concentrations were measured in 1345 LURIC patients with stable coronary artery disease over a median follow-up of 9.8 years, during which 477 (36%) died. Multivariate Cox regression identified sST2 as an independent predictor of all-cause mortality (risk ratio 1.16 per 1-SD increase, p = 0.004), with the highest quartile (>24.6 ng/mL) carrying an adjusted risk ratio of 1.39 (p = 0.006). sST2 provided complementary prognostic information beyond NT-proBNP and hs-cTnT in stable CAD.
