FXI activity and all-cause mortality were examined in 3,170 participants undergoing coronary angiography in the LURIC cohort (67% with CAD) over a median 14.5-year follow-up. A U-shaped association was identified overall (p = 0.027), with lowest risk at FXI activity of 115.6%, whereas CAD patients showed a linear positive relationship (p interaction < 0.0001). NT-proBNP levels significantly modified these associations, suggesting that personalised FXI-targeting strategies are warranted.
