An epigenome-wide association study examined blood DNA methylation profiles for liver steatosis indicators across three discovery cohorts, including LURIC (n = 2371). Methylation at cg06690548 (SLC7A11) was lower in individuals with liver steatosis (delta beta = -0.011, FDR = 0.004), and 9 CpGs associated with GGT and 23 with fatty liver index in at least two cohorts. These results describe the dynamic relationship between whole blood DNA methylation and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
