In 3,201 LURIC participants followed for a median of 9.9 years, homozygosity for the CNDP1 (CTG)5 allele – present in 1,157 (36.1%) patients – was not associated with increased cardiovascular or all-cause mortality after adjustment for cardiovascular risk factors, neither in the whole cohort nor in sex-stratified analyses. These findings do not support earlier reports of a sex-specific cardiovascular mortality risk in women carrying two (CTG)5 alleles.
