Among 3305 LURIC participants (1054 with type 2 diabetes, 2251 without), the ACE I/D polymorphism showed no association with type 2 diabetes (OR 1.16, 95% CI 0.94-1.43), glucose metabolism markers including fasting glucose, HbA1c and insulin, or angiographic coronary heart disease. The ACE D allele does not appear to influence type 2 diabetes risk in Caucasian coronary angiography patients.
