Five polymorphisms in the GNB3 gene (-1429G>A, IVS5 +41G>A, 657T>A, 814G>A and 825C>T) were genotyped in 3306 LURIC participants (2575 with angiographically confirmed coronary artery disease and 731 controls). None of the variants was associated with CAD, myocardial infarction, diabetes, hypertension, blood pressure, or body weight, suggesting that GNB3 gene variation is unlikely to contribute substantially to cardiovascular or metabolic risk.
