Among 3,316 LURIC patients with coronary angiograms followed for a median of 9.9 years, those in the highest quartile of resting heart rate (>= 84 beats/min) had survival reduced by 1.2 and 1.4 years for total and cardiovascular mortality, with adjusted hazard ratios of 1.39 and 1.38, respectively. Resting heart rate is a readily obtainable and modifiable prognostic marker in high-risk cardiac patients.
