Associations between oxidized LDL (oxLDL) and cardiovascular outcomes were examined in hemodialysis patients from the AURORA trial and non-hemodialysis patients from the LURIC cohort. Baseline oxLDL (34.2 +/- 13.8 U/L in AURORA; 74.6 +/- 28.1 U/L in LURIC) was not independently associated with MACE or all-cause mortality after adjustment for apolipoprotein B, and a rosuvastatin-induced oxLDL reduction of 30.9% at three months conferred no significant outcome benefit.
