Plasma lipoprotein(a) concentrations and two LPA SNPs (rs10455872, rs3798220) were tested in 3,313 LURIC patients with established coronary heart disease for associations with mortality. Despite an association with disease severity (highest tertile HR 1.44), no mortality associations emerged in LURIC or across 10,195 patients in validation studies. Lipoprotein(a) and LPA variants appear unhelpful for predicting mortality in prevalent coronary heart disease.
