A robustness score derived from non-invasive arterial pulse-pressure-wave measurements was calibrated against CVD mortality hazard rates from a LURIC sub-cohort (n = 1369). In 372 adults stratified by cardiovascular health status, robustness declined linearly with age in participants with hypertension or hypercholesterolaemia (p < 0.01) and those with prior CV events (p < 0.0001), but not in apparently healthy individuals. These results support vascular robustness as a biomarker identifying elevated risk for premature CVD mortality.
