Soluble ST2 (sST2) levels were examined for seasonal variation and association with vitamin D in two cohorts of hypertensive patients at cardiovascular risk: the Styrian Vitamin D Hypertension Trial (an 8-week RCT of 2800 IU cholecalciferol daily) and the LURIC study (cross-sectional design). The study aimed to determine whether sST2, a promising cardiovascular biomarker, is systematically influenced by seasonality or vitamin D status, and to clarify their clinical interrelation.
