Thyroid hormone status and resting heart rate (RHR) were assessed in 2795 LURIC participants referred for coronary angiography. Free thyroxine (FT4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3) were independently and positively associated with RHR (p < 0.001 for both), with the highest FT4 quartile showing RHR 3.48 beats/min above the lowest (95% CI: 2.23-4.73), while TSH showed no association. These relationships persisted within reference ranges, suggesting diagnostic and therapeutic implications.
