Association of double product and pulse pressure with cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in the LURIC study

Pulse pressure (PP) and double product (DP) were assessed as predictors of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality among 3316 LURIC patients referred for coronary angiography. Each 1 mmHg rise in PP carried a cardiovascular mortality hazard ratio of 1.016, and a 100 mmHg/min increment in DP a hazard ratio of 1.010. After adjustment including age, DP remained an independent predictor while PP did not, likely reflecting antihypertensive treatment in more than 85% of the cohort.
