Sclerostin levels were examined in LURIC and ALSPAC mothers (5,069 participants) in relation to cardiovascular risk factors and coronary artery disease severity. Higher sclerostin was associated with greater diabetes risk (OR = 1.25), lower HDL and eGFR, increased cardiac mortality in LURIC (HR = 1.13), and higher Friesinger score. These results indicate that sclerostin is positively associated with coronary artery disease, partly through established risk factors.
