Sensitivity analyses of the relation between alcohol consumption and mortality were performed in the LURIC cohort, extending a companion paper. Alcohol intake was estimated from questionnaire data and expressed as grams of ethanol per day; results were stratified by sex and by smoking status and reproduced under alternative beverage-classification schemes drawn from the literature. The data support the robustness of the primary findings across subgroups and classification approaches.
