A genetic risk score (GRS) for coronary artery calcification (CAC) was tested for CAD prediction in LURIC (n = 2742) and two Finnish cohorts. The CAC GRS was significantly associated with CAD in all three cohorts and added predictive value over traditional cardiovascular risk factors in LURIC (AUC 0.734 vs. 0.717, p = 0.02), establishing CAC GRS as a novel genetic risk marker for CAD.
