Two weighted genetic depression risk scores (GDRS-101, GDRS-220) were tested against serum amino acid concentrations in 2,143 LURIC participants referred for coronary angiography. Higher risk per SD increase was associated with lower alpha-aminoadipic acid (GDRS-101: beta = -0.097, p = 0.003; GDRS-220: beta = -0.076, p = 0.021), surviving FDR correction; no other amino acid showed robust associations. The findings implicate depression-related genetic variants in amino acid metabolism.
